NAM - Letter urging action on the Debt Limit

This afternoon, NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons sent a letter to President Obama, Speaker Boehner and Leaders Pelosi, Reid and McConnell urging them to “rise above partisan differences and put the nation’s best interests first by addressing the debt limit,” as soon as possible. Hopefully the continued pressure will help this avoidable  crisis end.

Early Thoughts on the News Cycle

How to think, write, edit and respond in the very short news cycle? As much as some of us think the news cycle is short, it may be no different than it was in the past. We push a lot more information up and down but is this analysis. Does it have value? There has been thousands of articles, news stories, tv shows, spoofs, blogs, etc. on the partial government shutdown. Do we know anymore than we did a week ago? Have we lost patience? Did we have patience? Is there evindence of either? How would we go about to answer this questions?

Fiscal Showdown

As we approach the upcoming government it's time to reflect on how we got here and what does it mean to be here. The request to have the affordable care act defunded by the Republican house is absolutely a non starter and has zero chance of passing either the senate or being signed by the President. This leads to the question what is the purpose of this vote and the forty plus other votes would to the ACA.
